December 14 CRC Smallbore Match

The weather is supposed to be mid 30's, snow and wind. Doesn't sound like much fun to me, so I guess we will cancel the match. Hope to see you at Greenmill next Sunday.

High Power practice 12-7-14 is on.

It is supposed to be around 60 degrees, so lets shoot!  Same as last month, practice..not a match. Expect a few  CRC members shooting on the range, too.  Our regular NRA monthly sanctioned matches will begin on Jan.4th...weather permitting. It has been a crap shoot shooting in the winter in the past, which is why we waited until April. Might as well try winter matches again. I have the range scheduled for matches the first Sunday each month Jan. through Dec. in 2015.  That's right, back to a 12 match schedule. I think we now have the shooter numbers to support it.

I will be there around 7:15 getting things started...like the truck. Show up anytime after 7:30 and bring some $$$ for "last animal" wins.  See you there.

November 23rd match at Aurora Gun Club is on

Hi All, We are shooting the scheduled November 23rd match at Aurora Gun Club. The forecast weather looks to be cold an windy, so dress warm. I will be bringing 2 hams that we will shoot for in some manner.  Big Mike and Bob Snyder will come up with something fun and entertaining for the ham shoot. If the wind is blowing hard we may not have a match, come out any way and try to win a ham.

Greenmill Match on Nov. 16 is CANCELED

Hi All, I just spoke to Jim Pagliotti and he is canceling the November 16th match at Greenmill. The forecast temp for Sunday is well below the 40 degrees needed to run a match.

If the sun comes out , no wind and the temp rises into the 30's we might shoot at Aurora.
Stay tuned and cross you fingers.

High Power practice 11-2-14

Sorry for the late posting.

Back by popular demand during the off season.  We will be shooting this Sunday at CRC. This is an unscheduled event at the range, so prepare for a few regular club members using the range along side us. It has worked out fine in the past. We will not shoot a standard match, but will set up all of the targets to keep in shape ( lifting and shooting).

Bring a few ones$ with you for last animal down wins the pot.

We now have 20 new chickens to break in, too. Don't forget to set your clock back Sat. night. Show up at the range anytime after 7:30, no formal starting time...whenever.

Regular  2015 monthly matches will resume in January weather permitting of course. .

HIGH POWER STATE MATCH CHANGES.....please read.

Due to more people planning to shoot the state HP match than thought, we are returning to the two day 2x40 shot format. I have 18-20 names planning to shoot. We can not get a 2x60 shot match done with five relays in a reasonable amount of time in a single day. We do not have enough targets to set up 30 of each animal. So, Saturday Sept.6th will be a 2 x 40 standard gun match, Sunday Sept. 7th will be a 2 x 40 shot hunter rifle match......just like the old days. I am really pleased to have a "too many shooter"  problem for a change.Too few shooters in the past forced the single day 2x60  state match we have had for the last five years. Lets hope this great attendance trend continues.

The NRA will be notified of this change so as to keep it an "official sanctioned state tournament."

Overnight camping at the range is encouraged if you are into RVing just like the old days. I realize not everyone will want to do both days and that is OK. The match fees will remain the same for this match. Cost for a single or both days will remain at $35.00. Five dollars goes right to the NRA for per shooter registration fee. The rest of  the entry fees will be a 50/50 split between the shooters and the club.

We will have the two dollar florescent painted animals again this year. Also, new this year,  any AAA or under shooter that hits 5 in a row any animal will get $5.00. ANY shooter that hits any 10 in a row gets $10.00 for their accomplishment. All this compliments of your humble match director.

I am having a somewhat difficult time this year getting club help setting targets. So far I have six scheduled to help out on Sunday 7th. I have a notice on the CRC website looking for workbond helpers setting targets for us. If I do not get enough the shooters will have to help set up animals.

I apologize for this short notice change, but I am confident this is the right decision for all of us.  Please spread the word to all that need to know of this change.

Practice Match at Aurora Gun Club on Saturday April 12th

Practice Match at Aurora Gun Club on Saturday April 12th instead of April 13th. Due to impending bad weather on Sunday the practice match will be held on Saturday. This is a great opportunity for you to win a match as I will be in Phoenix AZ shooting their state high power match. Big Mike and Bob Snyder will be running the match. The gate will open at 8:30 AM closing at 9:40 AM. The match will start at 10:00 AM. Good luck to all.

CRC HP match March 2nd....canceled.

Hi guys, sorry for the late notice. After talking to a few of our shooters we have decided to cancel any shooting Sunday due to the present cold snowy weather. The Byers forecast calls for cloudy, breezy and temps in the teens all day. We are  looking at possibly combining a HP match with SB next weekend at CRC, weather permitting. Dave, Steve and I will take a closer look at this and let all know in advance if this will happen.

Possable chance to shoot a pratice match at Aurora on Feb 09, 2014

Hi Guys, The weather forecast is all over the board for tomorrow. I realize the temp will be below 40 degrees but for those die hard shooters who need some trigger time. I might set the range up for a practice session. We will have to dig out the berms before we can start to shoot.  If the weather looks decent enough to shoot in the morning, I will update this post by 7:15 AM  (Sunrise is at 6:57 AM) deciding one way or the other to shoot or not to shoot.

Update: We will not be shooting today. Thanks for checking in. Posted at 7:15 AM

February 9, 2014 CRC Smallbore Match

Forecast high at the range tomorrow is 18 degrees and breezy. With the snow and cold, I don't think shooting would be much fun. So the match is cancelled. Hope to see you next week at Greenmill.

1-5-14 practice HP at CRC......CANCELED

We will not be shooting on Sunday due to forecasted  cold weather and fresh snow on the range. Single digit am temps warming to 18-20 by who knows when does not make for pleasant shooting. We will try another time in Jan. The next available open range date is on the 18th which is a Saturday. Other scheduled events on the silhouette range tie up other dates. Sundays are already planned small bore dates, so it is Saturday or nothing. I will keep in touch with you  HP die-hards. Meantime....get your ammo loaded.
