No HP practice this weekend.

With Sundays forecast calling for a low of near 10 to a high temp of 30, depending on what channel you believe, there will be no HP practice this weekend. Throw in any wind and it would be quite a nasty day to shoot. I got my HP fix in today.. great conditions .. hey I got the HP fever bad and had to take advantage before the big chill and snow on the way. We will try again on Feb.6th. Bob M.

Weather should be nice tomorrow. So I plan on going out to shoot. See you there.

No HP match or practice this weekend.

I will be out of town hunting elk with my wife. Sundays weather looks to be fair but a poll shows not much interest among the group in going out to CRC. Dave B. is possibly going out to put new parts in the target hauler truck and try to get it running again. Give him a call if you want to join him.

We will shoot for Jan.2 or 9th to put a practice together.

Aurora Gun Club Match is on for Nov. 28th

Hi All, the match scheduled on Nov. 28th is on. It looks to be just warm enough to shoot a match. Remember to save your lucky shots for the end of the match. I will be giving out a frozen turkey.

HP match or practice on Sunday Nov. 7th

I have not knocked over a HP silhouette target since Sept, not even a little smallbore one. I cant take it any longer. Come on out to CRC and join me for some practice or even a match if we have enough shooters. It is supposed to be warm in the upper sixties. Is this really November? Some folks will be hunting big game. But we will be shooting steel critters! Dont forget the time change this weekend, I will arrive by 8am. We will start shooting by 9 or right after the range is set up. This will be your only notice of match as I ain't calling anyone. Spread the word friends.

Results: Greenmill smallbore 7-18-2010

We had a great turnout this past Sunday with a total of 13 shooters. The weather was warm but I think we all can agree that we had more fun than we would have at home mowing the lawn! We would have had 14 shooters but as many of you know, Sharry was off becoming a grandmother in Flagstaff Arizona! All is well with the newborn baby boy. Congratulations to Sharry and her family! You all will have to remember to ask Sharry about her new grandson's middle name! (I am jealous)

Thank you to Jim Byrne for hosting the match!

7-11-10 High Power update

Guys, the target hauler truck is broke down. Two weeks ago it crapped out while being used for range chores. I put in a new start solenoid yesterday but it did not fix it. It is most likely the voltage regulator or the starter motor is seized or fried. The truck is a 76 F150 with a 390 cu in. I spent some time and money on it, now I am throwing it back at the club to get it repaired or replaced. Mean time, I will use my own truck to pull the target trailer out, but not to haul out a pile of shooters to reset targets. I got my limits!! Hopefully we will have enough shooters to put on a match....we will see. Me and Sara will be arriving Friday nite and spending the weekend in the trailer at the range and shooting all weekend...eat your hearts out!

Trent, come on out again. I will bring an extra gun for you to use. It will have to be the 700 .308 as the 7-08 you have used is tore apart . It does not shoot for beans any more after only 2800 or so rds. Crap factory barrels!! I am fitting it with another Douglas as soon as it arrives.

The range is in real good shape, freshly mowed and weed free berms and firing line thanks to Bill Stark and Tom Funk. These two guys put in a lot of time out there doing range maintenance and it shows. Of course being retired gives them plenty of free time to shoot and work out there. Thank them next time you see or talk to them.

No excuses accepted.....come out and shoot HP on the 11th.

Schedule Changes: June/July

There are a couple alterations to the match schedule for June and July. There will be no smallbore matches held at CRC during June or July. The Wyoming State Silhouette match is the weekend of June 12-13 and a bunch of our shooters will be headed up to Lander to attend. In July the Highpower match normally scheduled for the first weekend of the month has been moved to July 11 to avoid interference with the Highpower Nationals held in Ridgeway, PA on the first weekend.

I don't know what we all did right, but the weather gods gave us another fantastic break in an otherwise dreary week of storms. A beautiful day with a nice big group of shooters! Big thanks goes out to Jim Byrne for being our Match Director today. If you ever feel rushed out there just take a look over at the Match Director and realize all the work they have to put in to keep us going, and they still shoot the match with us! Mucho Gracias!

David Bonner won both the Hunter(35/40) and Standard(34/40) matches today. David also set the Long Run record today on Chickens with 42 chickens in a row!!! That was a new range record, and a new STATE record!!! Great job Dave!!! That almost makes up for those 11 animals you missed in the two matches.

We had a new shooter today. Michelle came out to give this sport a try after only hearing about it a few days ago. She did fantastic and I think she is hooked! Thanks for joining us Michelle!

Fuego!

HP match Sunday May 2nd

The HP match for this Sunday May 2nd is ON. The weather looks dicey with colder temps, afternoon rain and up to 20mph winds forecasted for the whole weekend so use your own judgement on attending. Me and Mr. Bonner will be at the dynamite shoot all day Saturday, wont be home till after 9pm. We may get lucky and get in one match, who knows. We are back to the 9am start time, so get there earlier to help set up the possibly muddy range.

Trent, I will bring an extra rifle along for you to use if you feel like coming out.

If the forecast changes for the worse I will update this post when I get home Sat. nite.

UPDATED......10:30pm Sat. Weather looks to be OK...match is ON.

Results: Aurora smallbore 4/25/10

We had a perfectly timed break in the weather today for our Sunday silhouette match at Aurora. With rain and snow all week and a chance of snow this evening the weather gods may have been pulling for us this morning. The wind played with us a small amount but overall not too bad. Lulduer and Danier shot with us today and did very well. Good shooting gentlemen. Relative newcomers Chris and Sharry upgraded to the standard size targets today and did outstanding. Sharry shot a respectable 12/40 today that bested Chris' high score of 10/40. Great job! Congratulations to Jim Tobin, match winner in Standard rifle. Another cograts goes out to Steve Hawks who was the match winner in Hunter rifle today. A huge thank-you goes out to Joe for directing our match this morning while David Bonner is out of town at a match in Washington.

Results: CRC Smallbore Match 4-11

Conditions were very good for the match yesterday. Clear skys and warm with a light wind. Great conditions for April at CRC.

Congratulations are in order for Jim Tobin. He shot 51/60 in Standard Rifle for his first leg into Master class and the match win (beating out several Master shooters) He started with 14/15 on rams to set the tone for a great match.

Relative newcomer Trent (A class) shot very well with 30/60 and 29/60 to beat out the AA shooters in both matches. Good job Trent!

Feb. HP silhouette again cancelled.

Just saw the Sunday forecast. Supposed to be in the mid 30's with light snow off and on in Byers. Not the best conditions for a match. Odds are most would rather not shoot in weather like this, so consider this an official cancel notice.

I will be out there on Sat. the 6th for some more practice. It is supposed to be sunny and in the mid 40's. I will set up half the range by 8am. Come on out and join me to get your highpower fix.

If the forecast changes for the better I will notify you if we will still shoot on Sunday .

Jan. 3rd. HP match

With a forecast high temp of 31 to 34 degrees in Byers on Sunday, depending which weather website you believe ,our HP match is officially cancelled. You know as well as I that with a little breeze that it would be quite miserable to shoot a match in those conditions. I plan on going out for some more fun, er....practice on Saturday the 2nd. I will be there early and will shoot for a few hours or until I run out of ammo, which ever comes first. Dress warm and lets slam some steel together.
